A is for …….

So gentle viewer following on from the Amsterdam apartment of dreams what else did I see and do in Amsterdam I hear you ask ( I know you’re not but let’s just play along shall we)

So I love to tourist, I mean I really love it. So before heading of to the land of tulips I got my google on and researched things I might like.

1 Anne Franks House . Cliche I know but how could I not. You can book tickets, these these are available on the website and are released 2 month in advance. Or you can do what I did and turn up and queue, still worth turning up from 2 as the queue does get pretty long. Entry is €9 for adults

Vondel Park is a large free park, cafe/ restaurant, band stand and always seems to be something on , jazz music, dog show etc

Lost items centre based on honesty, respect and trust

3 Markets, markets, markets. We visited the flower market and the flea market. If you couldn’t find it there you were finding it anywhere

4 Food. I mean come on Amsterdam has a wealth of food choices from chips and sauces (a must) to gelato, waffles and crepes and that’s just the vendors

5 Coffee shops. I guess this is a personal choice. They are available all over the city and are perfectly legal

Off on my next trip to Mexico

Updates to follow

Weekend with the Scots

Hey there, apologies for the radio silence but you know……. Life gets in the way

Anywho I’m back, and I’ve been travelling, well I’ve been to our neighbours in the north.

That’s right I spent a weekend visiting friends in Edinburgh. A city I found to be more beautiful then I imagined. Not sure if it was because it was all Christmassy with the markets and window displays but beautiful it was.

I did the usual touristy things, museum, dungeons, castle etc. however I also went to somewhere is never heard before  The real Mary Kings Close , for me this is a must do. You go under the city and see what lies beneath and hear the stories of how the city was for hundreds of years before

And being a tourist of course I bought the photo

I also visited The Edinburgh Dungeons, in my opinion miles better then it’s London counterpart. The interaction was top level and the story telling was brilliant. Gruesome stories and ghost tales

As any friend of mine know I love a little bit of history so a little visit to Edinburgh Castle was a must, situated high above the city it offers impressive views of the city and out to sea

And as its December it would be rude not to visit the market, and by this I obviously mean eat all the meat and drink all the mulled cider

Hopefully speak soon but for now I’m of to find some crepes

Makers market make me happy

In an effort to try new things and go to new places and generally live my life a bit more I set of last weekend so sunny Knutsford.
A friend had noticed the event advertised on good old Facebook via another friend and mentioned going, and I was all in.
The event is held almost every weekend at 4 different Cheshire / Manchester locations ( for locations and dates click here ), we opted for Knutsford as it was most convenient.
Now I don’t know if the sunny weather was to blame but I had a wonderful time. The street was closed of and decorated with bunting and all of manner decorated stalls.

After a couple of hours we headed home, not before stopping at Tabley House for afternoon tea and a look round the chapel

All in I had a brilliant day and will definitely be returning in future
