The year to date

Hello gentle viewers, how are we all doing?

So 2018 is just flying so thought I would catch you up on where I am. So I took a break from the old blog as I just didn’t feel like I had anything worth talking about, I’d lost my inspiration and well basically life just got in the way.

But starting to feel like I’m ready to be back so here we go, quick recap on the year so far

January

New year, new me…….. nah i started with 10000937463 resolutions as always and right now I can’t remember a single one. Had a birthday, the big 37 came and went with the minimal of fuss, and by that I mean no one remembered, my own fault for taking it of my Facebook but come on guys.

February

Returned the old bouffant to its more natural colour, brunette. So far it not the worst so I can live with that. Found out I had a place on the great north run so quite chuffed about that so pretty excited to start training. Started a new work placement in London, which has been fun if a little ( a lot) expensive.

Oh yeah and then subsequently handed my notice in

March (so far)

Cut my hair super short, loved it for 0.00064 seconds. Pierced my nose again! Bought all the books, way to many for any sensible person to reasonably want but hey.

I’m also setting some new goals/resolutions because who says they just for Jan 1st.

1) hardest but most interesting. Not cutting my hair till I’m 40. That’s right 34 months to see what can be done, I must caveat this by saying there may be the odd trim and shaping into style while it’s growing otherwise it’s just going to be a little to cray for work etc

2) read at least 1 book a month. Should be easy but as life gets so busy sometimes it’s the little things that slide. If you have any recommendations let me know.

3) train for the GNR, its a half marathon but as someone who can’t currently run 5k this is going to be super hard. Send me all your positive thoughts please.

4) get these expenses and debts sorted, curb the spending and start the saving.

I’ll be tracking the old hold hair progression as I go. Here we are at present

Speak soon lovelies

Bags for life

So my not to secret guilty secret are bags. I love them, I can’t stop buying them and I’m running out of excuses to keep buying them.

But before that happens I’m going to share my latest treats.

Now as you may or may not know my parents live in France and whenever I visit I’m always mesmerising by the fashion. Now I know they gave many of the same shops as we have here but they obviously have different stock.

Now bags are a different matter. I love the designs in Desigual, they are just different, quirky and I can never just choose one…….. so this time I chose 2

This cute tan and tapestry Boho one, smaller then my usual style but I couldn’t resist

And this super denim one (oh yes and the purse ooooooops)

Every so often I gift my bags to friends who’ve always said they liked them or charity shops but it’s the hardest item of all to give up

Wish me luck

What I did on my holidays

So this years summer travels took me across the sea to beautiful Jamaica. More specifically the luxury Bahia Principe Runaway Bay and it was stunning.

The rooms were decked out with either a super deluxe king bed or 2 doubles, tv, fully stocked mini fridge, bottle of vodka and rum.  Jacuzzi bath, double sink bathroom, toilet, shower etc. But rooms are rooms anywhere.

We chose the luxury side as it was adults only, so no kids. Personally heaven for me. Unlimited visits to the a la carte restaurants, branded spirit drinks etc.

My favourites were the Jamaican and Japanese. Mainly for the food but the shows they put on are super fun. Oh and who doesn’t love a good buffet breakfast

The beach was exquisite, private and peaceful. I tried to get down there each morning before others arrived. Just to have some me time

Pools were clean with constant entertainment or quieter areas if you wanted to peace, grounds lush and green.

This was 2 weeks of relaxation, reading and rest

Below are a few of my holiday essentials;

Sunscreen and after sun lotions -stay safe

Books, with my personal recommendations

Sunglasses these are Joanie Clothing

Chub rub stick

Bug repellent

And the famous big cup, super for filling with cocktails and keep it them cool

Crafts and Christmas

So last week I popped along to Paperchase in Manchester to one of their craft sessions. On the top floor of the store they have a little area set aside for crafting and projects.

The session I attended centred around gift tags, perfect coming up to the Christmas period.

The lovely ladies showed us how to use die cutting and foiling to create our own personal tags. So much fun and so many templates to choose from.

Over the next few weeks there are various sessions covering the different crafts from geometric garlands, gingerbread house gift boxes, Christmas cards, crackers etc with prices between £5-£20 depending on the session.

The team also run kids crafting parties.

If you are interested in attending any of the sessions then pop along, dates, times and details below and the team can be contacted on projectcraftmanchester@paperchase.co.uk

here is my face!

so i am very much an all the gear no idea kinda gal with most things in my life.

My face is one of them. i have all the makeup and brushes a girl might need but no clue how to slap it on and make it look good.

therefore i enlisted the help of the gorgeously talented  Frankie Noone from @frankie_noone on twitter and frankienoone on the old instagram to help make me look semi human

you get me right?

so i wanted a perfectly natural day look.

nailed it

then i wanted to be able to build it up for a subtle evening look. this is where i usually struggle, I add far to much and look like i just dived into my mums make up bag and motorboated the blush.

Ta Da

apologies for the extreme close up and grey roots but hey thats life

Frankie’s studio is a work of pure joy, and she is a total babe

So here goes my attempt to look more human on a day to day basis

FYI

Make up used was mostly Chanel, MAC, Benefit and NYX

what goes up…….

So i decided to challenge myself earlier in the year. Climb Ben Nevis, ambitious i know. then disaster, I  partially tore my achilles tendon junction late in 2015.

still i was determined to get fitter and do it.

so off i set with some of my guy pals to camp and climb.

we stayed at Glen Nevis campsite Friday – Monday, giving ourselves 2 full days incase the weather was dodgy.

you really can experience 4 seasons in one day. We decided to head up on the Saturday as that had the best forecast. and boy were we right. the weather was glorious and the views were breathtaking.

now we didn’t exactly rough it we had electric hook up and took a slow cooker and George Foreman grill, but hey its 2016.

we also took the opportunity to visit the local town of Fort William while we were there. Not so much to write home about but was nice enough to visit, and partake in a bit of bowling!

Sadly i didn’t make it to the top, my friends did however so thanks to them for the pictures from there.

My plan is to get my leg 100% better and try again next year!

but hey i had a super weekend so no complaint here!

just for reference here is the mountain the day after we went up……. oh wait its hidden behind that low cloud!!

Haddon Hall – Country Living

Now i am  little nerdy, not a bad thing but something i fully acknowledge.

So when i was away for the weekend recently i took the opportunity to visit Haddon Hall.

Nestled away in beautiful Derbyshire Haddon Hall is probably the finest example of a fortified medieval manor house in existence. Present-day Haddon Hall dates from the 12th Century to the early 17th Century, whereupon it lay dormant for over two hundred years from 1700 until the 1920s, when the 9th Duke and Duchess of Rutland restored the house and gardens, and once again made it habitable.

Avoiding fire; warfare; family misfortune and changing fashions, little has changed over recent centuries and Haddon provides a unique view of early English life and history.

the views from the garden were quite breathtaking, as you can see.

now if only i could win the Lotto and buy myself a little slice of Country Living

Y Not?

Before you berate me for the terrible grammar/ spelling I am talking about the Y Not? Festival 2016.

Now i have to admit i hadn’t heard of this festival before a friend very kindly asked me to accompany them for the weekend, and i wasn’t disappointed

Now the line up was pretty similar to that of Kendal Calling, with headliners being Editors, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Maddness, The Hives, Blossoms, etc. some pretty big bands I’m sure you agree. And how could I forget The Lancashire Hotpots

But as always some of the less well know bands on earlier on the main stages and smaller stages managed to catch my attention. Those of note for me were Circa Waves, Eliza and the Bear, Coasts and most of the Country and Western ones in the Saloon Bar.

Essentials

  • Tent – erm kind of a given
  • Sleeping bag (s) – double for nighttime warmth
  • Pillows – coz, well i like some comfort
  • Food/ Drinks – Free dried pastas and bottled water and of course the obligatory cider is a must for me!
  • Lanyard – i mean not only do you look super cool but also you can plan your stages
  • Sanitiser – if i need to explain why then we can’t be friends!
  • Head torch – ( see picture) – just for fun and hey see how awesome i look!

this is definitely one of the festival line ups i will be checking out next year

When in doubt…… Shop

So I’m having a bit of a crisis of confidence lately. I’m a little bit blah and little bit meh and a little bit Eurgh

So I decided to treat myself to some new threads. Mainly in the shape of jackets.

I’ve never been a cost person, who am I kidding I’m not really a fashion person

Anyways at the moment I only own one coat, a thick winter type one, a denim jacket and a leather jacket. Both now slightly to small

As I have no shopping buddies local to me I did the next best thing, online shopathon

Browsed the usual plus size sites before remembering the haven that is ASOS CURVE

so here we go, first up is this gorgeous Oversize denim jacket

Perfect to cover all the bits you want covered but still want to rock a double denim day

Next let his little Bird print Mac, I’m thinking perfect for those chance of light rain dog walk days

And lastly this casual but cute  Blue Skater Mac, hoping this will be my new got to coat!

And while I was in a roll I added this cute Picnic basket style bag, perfect for upcoming days out!

So while my bank balance lies weeping in my arms my life feels a little brighter
