Becky vs The World

Girl, meets world, meets life

It’s beginning to feel a lot like…..

Well to be honest not Christmas. I’m just not feeling it this year.

I have no tree up, no decorations, no lights, no presents nothing. I’m not sure what it is, I’ve whittled it down to a mixture of things

1: me and my other half aren’t exchanging presents, I’ve already sent my families presents weeks ago therefore I have nothing to give and I am receiving none either

2: I have recently had an accident and as such I’m in a boot and on crutches, which also means I haven’t been to shops to see all the decorations and gifts etc for over a week

3: I can’t drive because of the above so I am missing out on visiting friends and family and getting some extra holiday spirit

4: I’m still working, albeit from home but still. It’s hard to feel Christmassy when you’re stuck working when everyone else is already in the pub and singing carols and you’re logging on to check emails

I’m due to sign of from work in a few hours and then I can begin to food preparation, house  tidying and cleaning and maybe then I will feel like giving it some Ho Ho Ho

I know the new year will be better and that’s what I’m now focussing on

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year

Weekend with the Scots

Hey there, apologies for the radio silence but you know……. Life gets in the way

Anywho I’m back, and I’ve been travelling, well I’ve been to our neighbours in the north.

That’s right I spent a weekend visiting friends in Edinburgh. A city I found to be more beautiful then I imagined. Not sure if it was because it was all Christmassy with the markets and window displays but beautiful it was.

I did the usual touristy things, museum, dungeons, castle etc. however I also went to somewhere is never heard before  The real Mary Kings Close , for me this is a must do. You go under the city and see what lies beneath and hear the stories of how the city was for hundreds of years before

And being a tourist of course I bought the photo

I also visited The Edinburgh Dungeons, in my opinion miles better then it’s London counterpart. The interaction was top level and the story telling was brilliant. Gruesome stories and ghost tales

As any friend of mine know I love a little bit of history so a little visit to Edinburgh Castle was a must, situated high above the city it offers impressive views of the city and out to sea

And as its December it would be rude not to visit the market, and by this I obviously mean eat all the meat and drink all the mulled cider

Hopefully speak soon but for now I’m of to find some crepes

Busy as a B

I’m a relatively busy person. Not in a work way like I imagine most people but in my own time.

I like to think I’m a good planner and organiser but maybe not. How can this be I have all the lists?!

So I work Monday-Friday in one of those regular type jobs blah blah. But most evenings and weekends I’m busy busy. My week pans out pretty much like

Monday -gym/bingo

Tuesday – puppy training

Wednesday- netball training/ game

Thursday – college

Weekends – well where do I start, visiting friends, going to gigs, walking the dog, shopping, cleaning, organising, getting my hair done, all manner of errands.

So yeah I like to be busy,  but then I realised i never make time to relax, to do some of the things I love, to take pictures, to read (unless I’m on holiday) etc so by the time Monday comes round I haven’t stopped
Maybe I need to make me time, time to enjoy life, time to find out who I am, ok that’s a little American but maybe it’s true!

So time to make a change!

Hopefully you’ll come along to and see what happens

Her hair……

So I’m pretty sure I have hair schizophrenia (or something equally as dramatic) basically at the grand old age of 34 I still don’t know a) how I like my hair b) what hair style suits me and c) how to actually do my hair after I leave the hairdressers.

I was planning on having some extensions and doing the whole grey/ silver thing….. But then someone reminded me I’m nearly 35 and maybe leave that to the hipster types who rock a boho look.

def not me

So I sent round the gallery below to various friends to gauge opinion

So I’ve discounted the bottom left after the harsh (but fair) reality check from friends. So top left/ right would require either extensions or perseverance to grow and the other 3 means taking the plunge and chopping it of again but actually pay attention and learn to style

Currently my look is somewhere in between (a little Borris Johnson if I’m honest) so a change is needed

Any vote or opinion greatly received

Peace

A change is as good as a……..

So I think we are all in agreement now that Autumn is here. The shops are full of new hats and scarfs, and my favourite the fingerless, mitteny gloves.

So how else to celebrate then by wrapping up and heading out

The daily dog walk has quickly becoming my favourite thing, especially now my puppy is getting better at being of the lead. This means we can head of into the woods.

Sometimes it just all comes together, cool weather, sun shining and playful puppy.
Then on Saturday my most favourite of things…….. Firework display. The musical firework championships were on in Southport so we bundled into the car and down to the beach we go.

The display was brilliant and even a firework in the shape of a heart, but I didn’t manage to catch it (sad face)

Oh but I did manage to wear my new hat, gloves and scarf

Happy Autumn

I spy with my……. Little Box

So I recently signed up to My Little Box after seeing an Instagram post put up by a friend. And so far I haven’t been disappointed.

So the premise is every month you receive a ‘little box’ filled with goodies. I’ve tried Birchbox in the past and although I enjoyed some of the samples there were usually a lot that I didn’t end up using.

In my first Little Box delivery I received, amongst other things a small batik bag and travel document holder which I used a lot on my  recent holiday (Previous blog here)

And this latest delivery didn’t disappoint

First up was a scarf, oh wait 2 scarves, one blue one black along with cute guide on different ways to wear, perfect since Autumn has well and truly arrived with a brrrrrr

The beauty samples this month included a red lip gloss stick, my favourite colour, BB creme which I can’t wait to try and a handy handbag sized hairspray, perfect for work bag and evening clutch.

And to get in you the mood for that night disco dancing there’s some nail decals, I’ve never tried them before but definitely going to give these a go and a bottle of Cointreau with handy drink guide!

So now I’m of to try my scarf tying skills and maybe a cheeky Cointreau cocktail

Mini me……

Yesterday was one of those days where things just fit. Firstly I went to the office, which was pretty average I grant you, then came home to my puppy, always a joy.

However it is the evening where things got interesting, I finally got my hands on my new car. I’ve wanted a mini ever since I learned to drive but have never owned one…………….. Until now

And I love it. I mean I really do, still dealing with all the bells and whistles but so far so good.

Now to pug protect it!

Sun, sea, sand and me

so I’ve taken a little break from the blogosphere (is that a thing!?) and been on a jolly holiday.

I spent 2 weeks of sunny bliss in the beautiful Dominican Republic. This was it, my 2 weeks to relax, read and just refresh my self.

Staying at the Grand Palladium Bavaro, the days were filled with a la carte restaurants, sunshine, swimming and sun bathing. Perfect

I rocked out some bikini’s, well why not, worked my way through a 11 books on my kindle (other e readers are available) and drank some very interesting cocktails, mostly Virgin.

Treated myself to a spa visit at the hotel and a spa boat trip and basically relaxed for the whole 2 weeks.

Back to reality now and back to blogging central
This weeks debate

Team blonde or team brunette?

Which way’s which?

so as someone who doesn’t have children of her own be under no illusion that I enjoy adventure playgrounds just as much as the next.

So on Sunday I went, along with a friend and her small person to Brimstage Maze near Birkenhead.

This place has it all for ages 0-99, bouncing pillows, bouncy castle, space hoppers, swings, laser tag, obstacle course, zip line and 2 mazes.

There are 2 mazes, a small one and a large one. As we had small person I tow we chose the small one. To celebrate 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland the themes were related. The larger one to find quotes from the story and the smaller one the find the mad hatters teapots.

Good fun, even if we did only find 7 of the 10!

To recover and regather our wits we broke for tea, sandwiches and cakes at the onsite eatery.

This was a fun and relatively inexpensive day out! Fun for all, young and old
