There goes the neighbourhood…..

Another day another assignment. Be a good neighbour,  not to the people next door to your house,  you know the ones who you awkwardly send a Christmas card to ‘no 9, merry xmas from no 7’. But the ones who exist in blog world.

Now I am guilty of being super excited about getting likes and comments as I am pretty new to the game but reading today’s assignment made me realise how stingy I have been at spreading the neighbourly love.

So I have found myself some new blogs to follow and decided to engage with my fellow bloggers
So here a jyst a few I’ve given a follow/ left a comment for
Hopefully this will encourage me to spend as much time reading and I do writing

1 – Connecting Memories

This blogger  also has a second blog at Do you see what I see which is also worth checking out

Weekend pottering

Weekends are always a funny few days aren’t they, not long enough to do anything super productive but short enough to get the quick errands complete.
Now I am a great procrastinator, which is the great thing about blogging I guess. So I can set myself a task but find a 1001 ways to do anything but.
Until I get into the right head space then I’m all in.
Tidying and cleaning is my nemesis in this quest.
I don’t mean the quick flip the hoover round the room clean, I mean the deep spring clean,  floor scrubbing, wardrobe review clean.
So I took friday of work in order to do this……. and now it’s sunday evening and I am sat watching Gogglebox with 1/2 the house sorted.
Now this would normally feel like defeat
BUT
I did manage to complete my first Parkrun in pretty reasonable time

I did manage to set up my new computer

Book my wedding and honeymoon

Clean my bathroom, bedroom & kitchen

Do big food shop & cook a roast dinner

Celebrated  a friend birthday and supported another friends band who were playing locally

Cleared though my ever growing collection of Birchbox samples

Caught up with a friend and her adorable weeman

Plus I caught up on reading a few of the new blogs I follow

So tho I  love to procrastinate I still manage to get s**t done!

When will I be a grown up?

I sometimes wonder if I’ll ever grow up. I mean I have a mortgage, a grown up job and a steady relationship etc but I don’t feel like a grown up.
I am always comparing myself to others and what they have done or doing or have. I know I shouldn’t but sometimes I can’t help it. I see people who have started families,  are fit and healthy, love their job and seem to have it all.

But I just don’t feel that way. I mean I change my hair all the time, I still havent found the ‘one’,  that elusive look that makes you think yes, this is me, this is what I look like.
I wonder sometimes if it’s more to do with the fact that I’m still trying to get to who I think ‘I am’

I still have my idea of a dream job, and this may shock you…. It isn’t working in an office for someone else.
I’d love to work in radio, own a bookshop, be a writer.
Maybe one maybe all 3, but no I work in a office in a bid to be a grown up.

I’m also at that awkward age, that mid 30’s bit where no clothing shop is aiming it’s clothes/ looks at you. To young for some stores, to old for others. Yes I know there is online shopping but I like to try thing on before paying for everything then sending it all back.

Does anyone else feel ignored by the high street?! No ok then

So here I sit at 34, 6:50 on a Thursday morning in my pyjamas,  a snoring pug on my knee working out if I can get away with just straightening my hair or if it needs washing. The whole time I’m sure the rest if the world is up, showered, cleansed,  toned, moisturised, make up on, dressed in their amazingly stylish work clothes, reading some amazingly sophisticated work of literature heading to their dream job.

Are you?

Everybody loves good neighbours

Ok maybe a reference a few people will get, but hey who knows.
So assignment 3 from blogging101 was to discover my neighbours.  Basically find new people to follow and new tags to discover.
I loved this assignment, I have been following tags but wasn’t sure how to read them. But now I know and have managed to find some new people so hopefully they were good choices.
So the list of tags I currently follow are

The new ones are weightloss and pug. Mainly because I am on my own weightloss journey but rarely blog it and I have a new pug puppy who I just adore.
But I have delved into the plus size, lifestyle,  weightloss tags to find some new bloggers to hopefully inspire and entertain me.
As I read more I hope to find more tags to follow

Does anyone really know you?

So I’ve decided to put a bit more effort into some thing in my life, and this little blog is one of them.

I started blogging in Oct 2014 but then didn’t write another post till January this year.
Mainly I realised I probably didn’t have much to say…..
I still don’t but I say it anyway because,  well why the heck not

So im revisiting my WHY and WHO questions.

My why, why, why? To be honest I don’t know. I have a friend so I consider quite ‘down with it’ ( god that make me sound ancient) who blogs. So I started reading some and following a few others on social media platforms and thought where are all the people like me?! Then I realised that there is only one me and maybe the world would like to know a little more……
That’s not entirely true I thought it would be a place to write about the things I like and things I’m thinking about that I don’t always want to have to justify to others ( come on Facebook own up you judge Judy you)

So the who, that’s slightly easier…..
I’m a northern (UK), 30…… something lady type person who is only just finding out who i am and what i like.

Things i like

1- working out/ trying to be healthy/ losing weight, now before you move on i don’t mean in a whooping, Lycra clad way, calorie obsessed way. I mean in a challenging myself changing my life kind of way, future posts will explain more stay with me on this one.

image

2 – i like clothes/ accessories, again stay with me on this one, I’ve spent 15 years dressing in black, baggy unflattering clothes and now i have colour and shape (not just round), as some of my OOTD pics on Instagram. And I love accessories,  mainly as I didn’t have any nice clothes for so long I learnt to love all the extras that go with

image

3 – I love beauty and make up products but never get round to starting any kind of regime, maybe I should start soon!

4 – i will take photos of absolutely anything, recently completed a photography course to learn how to take better ones, again expect plenty of pics popping up every now and then, apologies!

5 – reading and watching films are ny favourite ways to relax.

6 – i love to travel, don’t do enough, need to do more. Past 12 months have seen trips to Brugge, Mexico, Italy,  Dublin and an upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic.

7 – I have a pug, a relatively new addition to my life and he is the best ( not at all biased I assure you)

image

8 – I love stationery, more a slight obsession

9 – I have a lot of different hobbies and a master of none.  But I will give anything a go

Hopefully I haven’t lost you and maybe some of you will hang around for more

A modern day miracle…..

Ok ok ok I admit I might have slightly exaggerated the outcome of this post, but before you stop scrolling bare with me.

So not sure about you but any regular shampoo/ conditioner user may have faced this heartache more then once. When one bottle, usually shampoo empties before the other.  Then you’re left with the dilemma,  do you buy the same brand conditioner again, just use shampoo alone, mix and match products, or shelve the remaining shampoo and start 2 bottles of fresh product.
Is any of this sounding familiar?
Ok I’ve probably lost some of you by now but stay with me.
Now I am a fickle fellow when it comes to haircare, generally only using what’s on offer when I go shopping so i’m either in mix and match mode or shelve and start a fresh…..

That was until Wednesday morning when this happened

image

That’s right people both my shampoo and conditioner expired at the same time…..

Praise be a Miracle I think you can all agree

With that in mind I’m of to buy a lottery ticket

Till next time lather rinse repeat

Lotions and potions galore

Who uses body lotion? I  mean please put your hand’s in the air. In every ‘gift ‘ set in have received over the past few years there is always a body lotion, or more recently body butter but who uses them?
I have recently undertook a spring clean ( a favourite activity of mine but that’s for another time) and had 2 drawers full of unused lotions and potions .
I have never used a body moisturiser,  mainly because I don’t usually lounge around after showering, but also because I just don’t get it.
Body scrubs yes, shower gels yes, but creams that makes my skin feel wet after I’ve just dried. ….. Erm no.

Anyway rather than throw them all away i have decided to regift some of them to friends who have expressed an interest, and the rest to my local charity shop.

I have kept a few to see if I can get in board with the concept but if not I will have to write myself of as a moisturiser no goer
